How to Play Light the Lamp
The controls of Light the Lamp are pretty intuitive. To move your cord around the room, use the left and right arrow keys in order to rotate the map. You can extend your cord by pressing the down arrow key, and retract the cord back by pressing the up arrow key.
Make sure to watch out for the circles with razors on them. These will cut off your cord and the round will be over. The whole point of Light the Lamp is to figure out how to avoid these treacherous traps and make it to the end.

Figuring out how to get your light into the socket seems like an easy task, right? Well, while it may start off simple, it ramps up in difficulty relatively quickly. By level 10, you will have to put in some serious effort if you want to finish the stage. Not to worry though, we have a few strategies to help you Light the Lamp and progress through the game.
Think before you act
The number one thing that you can do for yourself is try and have a game plan before you begin to uncoil your rope. If you begin to give yourself more and more rope without having a real plan, things are likely to end poorly. Instead, take a moment to get your thoughts together. Look for where your hurdles are and how you can circumnavigate them.
Use the blocks
There are rarely any blocks on screen that are just there for the aesthetic. Think about how each platform in the game can be used to aid you in your journey of lighting the lamp. There are no random shortcuts in Light the Lamp, you’ll need all of your resources!
Conserve your rope
For every level, you are only given a finite amount of rope. Most of the time you will need to use almost every last bit of it to make it to the end. This means that you will need to be efficient with how you use it. Don’t just randomly make huge circles and shapes that don’t help you progress through the level. Make sure to really think about how you can conserve as much as possible.
It’s okay to restart
Sometimes you will begin a level and nothing goes according to plan. You used too much rope, there are some spikes you can’t get around, or your path just looks weird and unsalvageable. In this case, it’s totally okay to just restart the level. No need to pull your rope all the way back, just exit out of the stage and pop right back in.
