Gravitus: Navigating The Gravity Field

Gravitus, a fun physics game on Coolmath Games, puts the player in the pilot’s seat. The goal is simple: fly through the level’s path and land your ship on the designated landing pad. Learning how to play Gravitus is easy, but getting the movement mechanics down is a lot harder than it sounds.

The Basics of How to Play Gravitus

There are a few things that you should keep in mind as you play: your speed, the walls, and gravitational pull.

It's very easy to get going too fast in Gravitus. If you put too much speed behind your movements, your ship will become harder to maneuver and you can get caught in the pull of gravity. This could send you crashing into a wall - so mind your speed!

Another thing that you want to pay attention to is the outside border. If you lose control and run into one of these borders your ship will explode and you’ll be back to square one.

The game keeps track of how many times you’ve crashed and how much fuel you’ve used to complete a level. If you’re aiming for perfection, you’ll want to keep those numbers as low as possible!

The last thing you should be aware of is the direction gravity is going. Sometimes the gravity will be pulling you down toward the floor. Other times gravity is reversed, and it will push you up instead of down. Gravity has a huge impact on how you’ll need to play each level so make sure you pay attention to it.

Now that you know the basic things to succeed at Gravitus, let’s go over some tips and tricks that you can use to get through the levels.

Limit Movement

In Gravitus, the movement is very sensitive. It’s very easy to overdo it and end up flying out of control into a wall. One way you can avoid this is by limiting your movement, if you limit your movement and let gravity move the ship, you will find that you have a lot more control over your ship. Remember the goal is not to land the fastest, the goal is just to land.

Pay Attention to Gravity

We already touched on gravity and its importance in Gravitus, but it’s the biggest factor of the game. Every round before you start, the first thing you should look at is gravity. A lot of the time you will find that gravity is not working in your favor.

For example, you might have to fly your base down and land lower than you started, but you will most likely have gravity pulling you up. In a scenario like this, you know that you would need to use more thrusters to get you through the gravity. Understanding which way gravity is pulling you will help you a lot as you play.

Take to the Skies

The real key to learning how to play Gravitus is practice. Hopefully, this guide will help you as you try to beat all the levels. Some levels can be pretty difficult, but if you are persistent they are beatable.

Now it's time for you to try it for yourself! Head on over to the game’s page and try it out. If you liked this game, check out our other gravity-based physics puzzles like Gravix or Gravity Control.
