My original idea was for a Coolmath "G.A.M.E." that had challenged your Geography, Arithmetic, Memory, and English. After I made these four minigames, I realized it wasn't enough, so I came up with extra games to add variety. The hardest part was balancing all of the minigames - for example, I found that the crossword was always taking too long, so to make it easier a number will randomly appear in the middle, which gives you a few lines you can just ignore.
I spent about two weeks coming up with the idea and the mechanics for the 12 minigames, but I did most of the actual implementation in just one weekend, using Unity3D. I started making games because it's a great and fun outlet that mixes the creative process with problem-solving. (I'm now a Senior at University of Georgia Studying Computer System Engineering.) I've always been inspired by games with robust level-editing tools - my first love was Tricky Truck, a goofy physics-based driving game.
