In most of the IO games on our site, players are trying to become the top player in the lobby against others. Oftentimes, there will be bots put on the map if lobbies are not able to be filled up completely. However, this is by no means a given, as there are some games with plenty of players to fill up the lobby.

Many of the multiplayer games today have complicated controls, which makes them hard to play at the beginning. However, IO games are known for being very user-friendly and simple to understand quickly.

That’s a tough one to choose. After all, many of our most popular games on the Coolmath Games site are IO games. A few of our personal favorites are powerline.io and defly.io. Both are high-action games with giant maps and super fun gameplay. We especially recommend powerline.io if you are good at the game Snake. It’s basically a multiplayer version of Snake, except you are trying to eat other players instead of apples.Our newest IO game, Hexanaut.io, is also extremely popular on our site. In this game, players are playing as a snake that is circling around hexagonal tiles in order to capture them. Watch out for other players though! They may just end up cutting your tail off and taking your land, so be careful.

What was the first IO game?

It's hard to definitively say what the first IO game was. However, the first IO game that really took off was Agar.io. It was a game that involved players moving as giant blobs that are trying to grow in size and absorb other players. While we don’t have Agari.io on Coolmath Games, there are tons of IO games that have similar gameplay to it on our site. The best examples are Hexanaut and Powerline, both of which focus on growing your strength until you are strong enough to defeat your opponents and take their resources.
