Lately, at Coolmath Games, there have been more great word games than ever. The new game Word Swipe is no exception, blending crossword games, strategy games, and Wordle-like clues all into one interesting gaming hodgepodge.

How to Play Word Swipe

Learning how to play Word Swipe is extremely easy, all you need is your mouse or finger to swipe, no keyboard is required. The entire goal of the game is to swipe through the blocks until you get the correct words hidden amongst the rows and columns. If the tile appears green, it means that you have a letter in the exact right spot. If the tile turns yellow, it's in the correct row but not the correct spot.

Word Swipe Strategies

The lack of a keyboard makes learning how to play Word Swipe simple. However, figuring out how to breeze past every single level can pose a challenge, especially for newer players. That’s where we come in. Read on to learn 4 different strategies to help you beat Word Swipe.

Pay attention to the squares

By far the most helpful part of Word Swipe is the color of the squares. As previously mentioned, green squares are in the correct spot, while yellow squares are in the word, but in the wrong spot. In general, you’ll want to immediately find the correct spot of the yellow square by shuffling it around. Once it’s green, you can proceed with the same game plan, having gained a good chunk of knowledge.

Shuffle things around

There is no penalty for shuffling around the tiles to your heart’s content. If you are getting really stuck, you can always just randomly shuffle until you find a tile that is either green or yellow. Having a good strategy is great, but sometimes you might just have to muscle it out.

Take a break

While the graphics of Word Swipe are fun and lighthearted, it can take a real mental toll if you play Word Swipe for a long time. If you feel like you are mentally fatigued and can’t seem to make it past the current level that you are on, there’s nothing wrong with stepping away for a little bit! Take a stretch, drink some water, or just go outside for a little while.

You might be surprised by how rejuvenated your mind is afterward. Sometimes we need a little time away so we can really focus back in when the moment comes.

One tile at a time

It can be easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of words that you have to find in Word Swipe. However, it’s important to try and segment the game by individual words instead of levels. If you just take things one word at a time, the levels won’t seem nearly as daunting. Whether you have to find 2 words or 20, as long as you can compartmentalize it won't be very overwhelming.

Now that you have learned 4 different strategies to help you strive toward success in Word Swipe, go and test them out in real time! Be careful though, once you start this word game, it can be hard to put it down.
