How to Play Element Merge

Many people have already played Element Merge, one of the newest titles here at Coolmath Games. This fun and interesting Figure it Out game has some fun and unique characteristics that you just can’t find in a lot of games.

With that being said, there is a lot that you have to get done in Element Merge. For one thing, there are over 500 different elements that you must create in order to complete the game. That’s a lot to try and achieve! Not to worry though, we will go over how to play Element Merge, as well as give some tips on how to achieve your goals in this comprehensive blog.

How to Play Element Merge

There are very few actual controls in Element Merge. This is great because it makes the barriers to entry very low. All you need to know is how to click and drag different boxes onto the screen. That’s it!

In Element Merge, you will start with four basic elements – soil, water, air, and fire. The premise of this game is to drag these elements into the crafting area and create entirely new building blocks. For example, by dragging water and air together, you can make a cloud. Then, by adding another water to the cloud, you can create rain.

Element Merge Strategies

The gameplay is simple, but actually creating every single combination in Element Merge is a feat that few have achieved. However, we have a few tips that should help you get off to a decent start while learning how to play Element Merge.

Think it out

The main go-to option is to just think out whether or not elements could become anything that makes sense. For example, if we heat water with fire in real life, we get steam. If we combine soil with water, we grow plants. Common sense goes a long way when playing Element Merge, especially at the start of the game when you are given the fundamental building blocks of Earth.

Hover over your options

If you get stuck and don’t know what to do, it is a completely legitimate strategy just to grab one element and hover over all of the other elements that you have. Some options are less expected than you would think. For example, combining one wind tile with another creates the sky. While the logic of this makes sense, it’s certainly not the most obvious combination.

Use the guide

When you get stuck and just can’t seem to find any combinations, make sure to check out the List in the bottom right-hand corner. This list gives you a kind of equation that you can solve to find more elements. The list will always show you elements that you can create with the current resources you have. For example, if it says ‘Mushroom = ____ + ____, you know that there are only two resources you need to get a mushroom.

Try and really put on your thinking cap to figure out what properties a mushroom has. A mushroom is created in grass fields on long, rainy days. So we just have to combine rain and grass, and boom! We have mushrooms. It's as simple as that.

Discover Life

One of the biggest game changers when learning how to play Element Merge is discovering the element of life. There are so many different uses for life, and it seems as if it can be combined with almost any other tile. Life combined with soil makes earthworms, life combined with water makes fish, life combined with air makes birds, life combined with . . . well, you get the idea.

All you have to do to create the life element is to combine energy with water, two components that you will discover pretty early on. Once you do that, Element Merge is an entirely new game full of opportunities.

Clear your board once in a while

As you continue to play, the area where you create new elements will get more clogged and congested. When this happens, simply press the clear button in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. This will create a new workspace for you where you can continue to create your crazy concoctions.

So, now that you have learned how to play Element Merge, get out there and start creating new and interesting elements! Turn soil, water, air, and fire into 587 completely unique elements using your creativity and imagination.
