In this puzzle, five words share a common category. Your goal is to guess that category in five tries or less! At the beginning of the puzzle, you will only see one word. However, each time you guess incorrectly, a new word will be revealed.
There are lots of types of categories. For example, they might all be world cities, types of cats, or Shakespearean plays. Other times, the category is more like a common trait among the five words, and may not relate to the meaning of the word, like "rhymes with gravy".
TIP: The game is pretty good at figuring out what you're thinking when you make a guess. Don't worry about getting the name of the category exactly right!
Pinpoint Game Tips
It can be hard to guess the categories, especially with less than 4 or 5 clues. However, there are a few strategies we have to increase your odds.
Think outside the box
There are a lot of different categories, oftentimes with relatively obscure references. This means that you will need to get creative, the categories can be anything from a kind of glove, to an artist, to a tooth.
Think about different word uses
Oftentimes, words will have more than one meaning. Take the word 'wood' for example. It can either reference the material that is harvested from trees, or the American artist Grant Wood. Thinking critically about these kinds of things is key in Pinpoint.
Take your time
One of the great luxuries of this word game is that there is no clock. This means that you can take all the time in the world. Instead of randomly guessing, really collect your thoughts to make an informed decision.
